Now in its 36th triumphant year, the NAMM Foundation's 'TEC Awards' honour notable achievements for innovations and innovators across every corner of the our industry, from studio recording, to live performance, video and multimedia.
Voting in these prestigious awards is open to all MI and live event professionals who make their living in the audio industry. Full rules and eligibility, check out the TEC Award ballot page.
SCV were bowled over to be notified of no fewer than five products from SCV-distributed brands featured in the nominations for the 36th annual event, including entries from Latvian software geniuses Sonarworks, MixCube and mic manufacturer Avantone Pro, Chicago mod-shop Black Lion Audio, and decoupling isolation experts IsoAcoustics.
Black Lion Audio Bluey
Signal Processing Hardware
One of the world's most widely celebrated 1176 homages to-date, the Black Lion Bluey is based on a specific blue stripe UA unit installed at the Mix L.A. studio facility in Tarzana, California. The limiting amp in question has found its way on to a large number of Chris Lord-Alge's recordings and Black Lion sought to capture the same timbre and flavour of compression in their modern reworking.
IsoAcoustics ISO-Puck 76
Now available in a variety of sizes and with equivalent weight limits, the ISO-Puck range from Canadian isolation masters IsoAcoustics has been praised for its amazing ability to breath new life into speakers by taking their underlying surfaces out of the acoustic equation.
By allowing the speakers to essentially float in free space, the highly scalable ISO-Pucks empower studio monitors to avoid incorrect information being shared across the frequency spectrum and provide a much clearer stereo image.
Avantone Pro CLA10 Active
Barely skipping a beat after the explosive launch of their passive 1970s NS10M clone, Avantone Pro now present the CLA10A - the perfect tool for modern studio mixing applications.
From the software designers behind the fantastically successful Reference 4 audio calibration software for music producers and engineers comes a consumer audio application for smartphones and desktop computers.
SoundID is an app designed to tailor a specific sound profile to each listener, based on the personal strengths and weaknesses of their hearing and powered by intelligent algorithms working to deliver the best customised version of your music behind the scenes.
Avantone Pro KICK
Microphones Sound Reinforcement
Pulling yet another sorely missed studio staple back from the brink of history, Avantone Pro present KICK - a subharmonic microphone solution based on the original 'SubKick' models from the mid to late 1990s.
For bass drums, bass guitar amps and other sources requiring additional subharmonic depth to give them even more punch in a mix, KICK is the ideal tool for use alongside any dynamic microphone to add extra dimension to a live audio source.
Voting is open from December 10 and will end December 31, 2020. Be sure to cast your ballot before year end! For more information on any of our distributed brands, contact SCV.
