For the majority of studios across the globe, mixing on speakers is the best way to ensure optimum transferability between different playback systems in the hands of consumers. However headphones feature a very system of projection thanks to their straightforward driver configuration.
The solution, called "Phonitor Matrix" and crafted in-house by SPL, emulates the 30 degree angle of crossfade that speakers exhibit and so enables headphones to deliver a truly speaker-like performance. This ensures that playback on headphones is infinitely closer to the result studio engineers originally conceive when mixing and mastering listeners' favourite musical material.
Phonitor se's built in 'Crossfeed' setting also determines the level of crosstalk or 'inter-aural level' between left and right channels. The crossfeed intensity can be selected by switching between positions C1 and C2 via the front panel.
The Phonitor se's design is expertly streamlined and features an array of uncluttered features aimed to get the job of monitoring accuracy done with the minimum of fuss.
Two gold-plated RCA connectors fill the role of analogue inputs, while digital inputs can be accessed via SPL's optional DAC768xs module providing USB, coaxial and optical connectivity.
Crafted in Germany, Phonitor se's powerful amp stage provides enough headroom to cater for even the most demanding electrostatics and like every SPL product, all internal components are carefully selected from only the highest grade parts.
