Questyle sparked upon a plan to design a high-resolution portable music player (DAP). For their first DAP, they set an almost impossible goal. That was, to make it possible, for true music lovers and professional audiophiles, to enjoy the same Hi-Fi listening experience achieved in state of the art home based systems, in a portable body. This means, the circuit design, the device, the system architecture, as well as, the industrial design and processes, must all be reconsidered all. They looked forward to it, as not just portable Hi-Fi equipment, but, as the future of Hi-Fi itself.
An Impressive arc body with a twin steering wheel design, supporting DSD128 and 24/192kHz PCM files, pure class A (discrete transistors and components) headphone amplifier, incorporating Questyle Audio's patented "Current Mode Amplification" to ensure warm and powerful sound. All this makes the QP1R a masterpiece of portable DAP design.
Style and technology are merged into pure Hi-Fi
The Arc body of the Questyle QP1 & QP1R is so elegant. A machined aluminium body is merged with a Gorilla glass, front and back, reducing weight while increasing durability and providing a better environment for EMI sensitive circuits.
The innovative continuous whole surface design, the hollow guard, the curved glass machining, the assembly of superimposed surfaces of glass and aluminium composite materials, the CNC machining and assembly to a severe test of specification, all of which are combine to make a beautiful and stylish enclosure.
Broad file support for most popular audiophile formats
The Questyle Audio QP1R supports ALAC, APE, FLAC, AIFF, WAV, WMA Lossless up to 24bit/192kHz and high-Res audio files such as DSD128 and DSD64. Playback of these file types reveals much more of the original sound recording than that of MP3 players or smart mobile phones. As a hi-end portable DAP, the QP1r needed to reproduce audio from these files at the same high level as the studio recording, but at very low power consumption.
After many revisions to optimise system operation, player programming, and digital audio circuitry, Questyle Audio finally achieved a solution.
Sound performance is the priority
The Questyle Audio QP1r follows the same 3x clock design of the Questyle Audio CAS192D. The 3x clock USB asynchronous transmission guarantees a more stable and precise operation. The 3x clock integrated circuit with FIFO asynchronous structure and 3 voltage-stabilised power stages ensure accurate sound. With the Cirrus Logic flagship DAC (CS4398) chip, this DAP is able to capture more detail hidden within the music.
"Current Mode Amplification" Headphone driver technology - A legend of Questyle
There is fierce competition between High-Res DAPs and Hi-End smart phones, so Questyle Audio used their highly regarded flagship headphone amp, the CMA800R, as a reference point. The "Current Mode Amplification" technology from the CMA800R is merged into the QP1R to drive virtually any headphone. Hi-End audio amplifiers are traditionally designed using all discrete components.
With no expense or effort spared, this design protocol is applied to the Questyle Audio QP1r and is combined with Questyle’s “Current Mode Amplification” PCT patents, and an all class A architecture. Such a design, with an output impedance of less than 0.19 ohms, makes it easy to drive 8ohm in ear monitors through to 300ohm in dynamic headphones. With three gain modes low to high impedance headphones can be gain matched for optimal performance.
Incredible auditioning process resulting in superb reference quality
By testing nearly 100 versions of completed models (swapping out every component to find the perfect match), after analysing more than 500 pieces of data, plus 500 sonic tests and auditions recorded by Audio Precision, the perfect QP1r was finally born.
As a Reference piece, the QP1r uses higher quality components, as well as a more critical approach to the audio circuit then the standard QP1. This produces lower distortion (QP1r THD+N=0.0006%, QP1 THD+N=0.0015%) and superior sound quality.
The QP1r also employs a different PCBA, larger internal storage chip (32GB) and a different software version.
True portability and ease of use when traveling
The helm style volume control and the machined aluminium hollowed-out protective crown, inspired by a fine watch design, protects against inadvertent volume change and accidental damage to headphone plugs, while carried in a pocket or a case.
Another feature is the "Steering Wheel" control for menu, allowing a quick track selection of the QP1r.
A maximum storage capacity of 288GB (32GB internal, plus 2x 128GB Micro SD) means hundreds of albums in your pocket. With two swappable micro SD cards take your whole music collection along with you.
The 3300Mah battery supplies up to 10 hours playback time whilst the universal micro USB jack allows charging anytime, anywhere and supports listening while charging.
