This year SCV Distribution will join Chester Hi-Fi and home cinema retailer Acoustica to showcase a selection of their premium headphone and portable audio ranges at the Hilton Double Tree Hotel (a stone’s throw from Chester Cathedral).
As a professional audio distributor for over 30 years, SCV are a relatively new arrival in the Hi-Fi sector but have been quick to establish themselves as key suppliers of high-end audio innovations.
So what’s on offer at Acoustica 2018?
Focal
As some of you may know, SCV currently represents Focal’s range of high-end headphones including the £3.5k flagship model ‘Utopia’ (has to be heard to be believed) which will be proudly on display at this year’s show. Plus, for listeners looking for a true audiophile headphone experience at a slightly more digestible price, the Focal Elear and brand new Clear models will also be on demonstration.
Meze Audio
The instantly recognisable Meze Audio range have been quickly gaining a great reputation with their entry level ‘99 Classics’ closed on-ear headphone, which manages to strike an almost perfect balance between cost, performance, portability and not least fun! Meanwhile, on the other end of the spectrum, SCV will also be revealing Meze’s brand new ‘Isodynamic’ planar magnetic flagship headphone – Empyrean.
Questyle Audio
What is a great pair of headphones without well-matched electronics to back them up? As with any 2-channel speaker system, adding suitable amplification can make a drastic difference and help get the very best from your headphones. Enter Questyle Audio Engineering.
Based around their patented and hugely respected ‘Current Mode Amplification’ (CMA) circuitry, the Questyle Audio range of headphone amplifiers, DACs, preamps and portable players can bring fine audio quality even to some of the most demanding headphones on the market.
At this year’s show SCV will be presenting Questyle’s ‘Golden Stack’, a flagship audio amplification totem assembled from their CAS192DG DAC, CMA800PG preamp and two CMA800RG amplifiers in ‘mono block’ power amp mode. When paired via balanced connection with either the Focal Utopia or Meze Empyrean, listeners can expect to hear some of the most enthralling audio reproduction imaginable.
Questyle’s CMA600i and CMA400i models will also be on show to offer fantastic value combination DAC/headphone amplifiers at every price point.
For users angling to create the same captivating Questyle’s 'current mode' sound on the move, SCV will also be exhibiting Questyle’s QP2R portable audio player. Despite its compact size, the QP2R is more than capable of performing under some very demanding headphone loads – a key feature of the Current Mode design.
As the UK representatives for Benchmark Media, Bricasti Designs, Even, Fostex and IsoAcoustics, SCV staff will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have about these brands and may even present a few surprise new releases from their growing portfolio!
